After winning the green card lottery, I knew that it would be very difficult to start a new life in the US. I arrived in this country during one of the coldest winters. I got my first job two months later, but I quit it shortly after because it wasn’t for me. I worked the nightshift and slept during the day.. I needed a job that would allow me to see people.
Finally I decided to do a job like many of my fellow countrymen do when they come here: street vending. So I went from being a teacher back home with lots of hobbies to just selling things on the street to support my family. That’s when I decided to go to back to school because since childhood, I knew that education was the key to success.
